When to send out wedding invites
TLDR: Standard time to send out invites is 6-8 weeks. I recommend the 8-10 week bracket (read below to find out why). If your guest is in the military or out of the country, you will want to send out invites a minimum of ten weeks in advance.
Typically, sending out wedding invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding day is recommended. However, I suggest sending them out at the 8-10 week mark for several reasons. Here’s why!
Reason #1 | Collecting RSVPs
Sending out wedding invitations at least eight weeks before the big day is a thoughtful and practical way to ensure everything is perfect on your special day. It gives you ample time to receive RSVPs promptly and provide the final headcount to your wedding vendors for preparation and billing. It also allows your stationer to add personalized touches like place cards, seating charts and favors to make your wedding even more special.
Reason #2 | They don’t call USPS “snail mail” for nothing!
Recently, there have been concerns regarding delayed mail deliveries. It's crucial to ensure that your guests receive ample notice to make arrangements for your special day, particularly if they're traveling and need to book hotel accommodations. Sending out their invitation sooner rather than later will ensure it gets there on time; it also gives you enough time to send out a new invitation if their invite is returned to sender, destroyed, or lost in the mail.
